James "Bill" Robertson was a pillar not only in Phoenix Lodge but in Freemasonry all together. He proudly served Phoenix Lodge as its Worshipful Master in 1957. Bill was devoted to his family as a husband, father, and grandfather and in his community, serving as Deacon of his church for many years. Brother Robertson served Phoenix Lodge in many ways such as Trustee, serving on numerous committeess throughout the years, Proficiency Card Holder, and was well known for his breathtaking performance of the "Stairway" lecture in the Fellowcraft degree. After Brother Robertson passed away in 2007, fifty years after serving as its Worshipful Master, the members of Phoenix created this award and established that it would only be given out when a member of the lodge had proven himself to be worthy of such an honor.

This is the medal that is presented to recipients of the Outstanding Mason Award. It is worn on the famous "Red Coats" that Phoenix members are known for having.
